Removal and installation of the control arm bushing 4-06-2792 without outer metal shell.
Attention! Control arm bushing 4-06-2792 unlike the original one does not have the outer metal shell. The installation of this bushing must be done into the outer shell of old bushing. Do not remove the old outer shell from the control arm. Remove only rubber in any convenient way.
Removal
- Remove rubber from the control arm. Do not remove the outer shell of old bushing.
- Clean the housing area of the outer shell from dirt, rust, rubber remains. File and polish if any burr.
Installation
- Choose a hub base with I.D. 1-2 mm. bigger than O.D. of the bushing’s flange not to interfere the bushing’s pressing out. Choose a taper with I.D equal to old bushing’s outer shell and hub driver with O.D. equal to diameter of the inner sleeve.
- Lubricate a taper inside, housing area of outer shell, outer surface of the bushing with supplied grease or any other consistent grease.
- Place a stabilizer upon the hub base into the press.
- Place a taper upon the housing bore.
- Place a bushing into the taper.
- Place a hub driver upon the inner metal sleeve of the bushing.
- Start pressing. Increase the load gradually to make the bushing spreading evenly until it fills the housing bore completely.
- Initially the bushing may slip into the housing bore slightly skewed because of the difference in diameters of hub driver, housing bore and bushing. Due to the resiliency of the bushing, it’s bigger diameter allows to fill old bushing’s outer shell completely and fix the bushing properly.
- After the new bushing is pressed in, remove excess grease. Check the symmetry of the bushing’s placement and tightness of the flanges to the housing bore. If necessary, align the bushing in the outer metal shell.
Attention! After the bushings replacement, check the wheel alignment.
